George R.R. Martin has hinted at the possibility of a live-action Elden Ring movie.
Martin collaborated with FromSoftware to create the rich lore and world of Elden Ring, which has become a monumental success since its release in 2022.
Speaking with IGN, the Game of Thrones author kept his comments brief but suggested that discussions about bringing the hit fantasy game to the screen are ongoing.

“Well, I can’t say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring.”
Despite the buzz surrounding a potential film adaptation, Martin expressed uncertainty about his involvement, citing his commitment to completing The Winds of Winter, the long-awaited instalment in his A Song of Ice and Fire series.
He noted, “I’m a few years behind with my latest book, so that also limits the amount of things that I can do.”
This isn’t Martin’s first time alluding to an Elden Ring movie.
In the summer of 2024, he playfully addressed rumours on his blog, neither confirming nor denying the project’s existence.
FromSoftware’s president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has also shown openness to adapting ‘Elden Ring’ in a different interview.

In a conversation with The Guardian, Miyazaki stated, “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie, for example”.
“But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium.”
However, he shared the need for a strong partnership, admitting that neither he nor FromSoftware possess the expertise to produce a film independently.
He went on, “So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play. We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.”
While no official adaptation has been confirmed, Elden Ring‘s vast and intricate universe seems like prime material for a live-action project.
Given the ongoing trend of video game adaptations, such as HBO’s The Last of Us, a cinematic or streaming series based on Elden Ring would not be surprising.
