It all started back in 2019 when the 23-year-old was asked to choose between Eminem and Childish Gambino during an interview with Noisey.
“I was scared of Eminem my whole life. Always, I was terrified. That dude freaked the f*** out of me. Oh my god,” the singer responded, leaning back on the sofa with her hands in her hair.
After learning about the interview, Eminem decided to use the fact as a line in one of his songs on the 2020 deluxe version of his ‘Music to be Murdered by.’

In the track ‘Alfred’s Song’, he rapped: “Homicidal visions when I’m spitting like this / But really I’m just fulfilling my wish / of killing rhymes which is really childish / And silly, but I’m really like this / I’m giving nightmares to Billie Eilish.”
Many social media users didn’t seem to understand Eilish’s phobia, with one user referencing the lyrics and writing: “Wait cause I’m actually cackling at Eminem saying “i give nightmares to Billie Eilish” like ???? you make weird ass mvs how tf does this grown ass man scare you, sis.”
“Billie Eilish saying she’s always been afraid of Eminem kinda offends me, girl wasn’t even BORN when slim peaked, what’s she scared of?” another added.
And a third also chimed in writing: “All her music videos are creepy as hell and Eminem’s the one giving her nightmares ??!!!”

However, others also confirmed that her phobia is well and truly over after seeing a clip of the star rapping along to one of Eminem’s songs on stage at a previous Coachella party.
“Billie Eilish went from scared of Eminem to playing and vibing to Lose Yourself at the #Coachella party. We’ve come a long way.” the user wrote in the caption alongside the video.
The only way to put all of this to rest once and for all is to see a Billie Eilish and Eminem collaboration.
I’m definitely adding that one to my 2025 bingo card.
