This famous actor died early Monday morning at his home in New York. He was in many famous movies, such as The Lion King, Field of Dreams, Star Wars, and more.

The movies Coming to America, The Lion King, and his voice as Darth Vader made James famous.
The actor leaves behind his son, Flynn Earl Jones.

Fans were quick to send their condolences and their favorite movie scenes with James on X.
“May you rest in peace, James Earl Jones. One person wrote, “One of the most powerful, evocative, and emotional voices in film history.”
Others said, “Rest in peace, GOAT James Earl Jones.”
“The effect that James Earl Jones had on Star Wars cannot be overstated,” said a third.

Mark Hamill, who played him in Star Wars, talked about how he felt about James’ death on X.
“#RIP dad,” he wrote with a broken heart emoji next to an article that confirmed his death.
George Lucas, the man who made Star Wars, also shared a touching tribute.
The director said in a statement, “James was an amazing actor and a voice beyond compare, both in art and spirit.”
“He was Darth Vader for almost fifty years, but the truth is he was a beautiful person.” He gave all of his roles depth, sincerity, and meaning. Being a loving husband to Ceci, who died, and a father to Flynn were two of the most important.
“So many of us, friends and fans alike, will miss James,” George said.
A LEGENDARY CAREER FOR JAMES
It became clear that James was one of the best Black actors of his time.
During his more than 60-year career, he played many different roles.

As Darth Vader in Star Wars and King Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King, he did voice work for both movies.
Additionally, James played Vice Admiral James Greer, CIA deputy director, in three Jack Ryan movies in the 1990s. He was in The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger.
James has also portrayed a B-52 bombardier in Dr. Strangelove, the first Black president in The Man, a scary bad guy in Conan the Barbarian, an author in Field of Dreams, and a blind former baseball player in The Sandlot, all of which are well-known roles.
Four Tony Awards were given to the actor, and he won two. The first was in 1969 for his role as Jack Johnson in The Great White Hope, and the second was in 1987 for his role as Troy Maxson in Fences.
