A lot of people seem to be looking for ways to spice up their sex lives and what better way than to do so via changing the location?
Relationship experts agree that switching up that old creaky bed for a slightly more exciting location can actually do wonders for your intimate life including the shower, the kitchen and of course, one of the world’s favorite options – the sofa!
In a study conducted by the UK business Sofa Club, it was revealed that one in five of those who have sex on the couch keep the TV on in the background.

Some of the 500 study participants said that getting down and dirty in the living room actually made them feel more comfortable that in other locations.
The award winning wellbeing, sex and relationship coach Gemma Nice explained that “Having sex on the sofa often adds a touch of spontaneity that keeps the excitement alive.
“It creates a more intimate setting where couples can engage in dirty talk or foreplay before moving things to the bedroom,” she continued. “Plus, the presence of a TV in the living room can set the mood, with a film or show potentially instigating forms of arousal that might lead to sexier moments.”

However, one recent revelation has people re-thinking this first place option.
Hana Patel, a doctor and health expert at Medico-Legal Expert Witness warned people of the bacterial infections that can be picked up when you’re doing the deed on a loveseat.
“Though having sex on the sofa can be fun, there are some risks to be aware of. One example is an increased risk of bacterial infections due to sofas often not being cleaned as thoroughly and easily as your bedding,” she explained.
These germs can stay embedded on the material of the sofa and multiply before they become more dangerous for our healths.
Patel went on to speak of the important of keeping sex toys clean too.
“If you’re sharing sex toys, make sure you wash them between each use and always put a new condom on them each time,” she said.
“Sharing sex toys has risks, including getting and passing on STIs such as chlamydia, syphilis and herpes.”

Nice also doubled down on this idea of hygeine, stating: “The cons of sofa sex is that when you ejaculate, it can get a little messy. It’s best to have a splash blanket or some towels down to be on the safe side or at least have some kitchen roll or tissue next to you.
“Towels and blankets can also help keep your skin protected from potential skin burn, especially if your sofa is made from harsh material or leather,” she advised.
And there’s nothing more of a mood killer than a skin burn, ladies and gentlemen.
