For those animals who call the streets their home, getting into sticky situations is quite common.
Whether they are looking for food, shelter, or just a friend to play with, it is really easy for them to go astray and end up somewhere like… I don’t know… a shipping container?!
Nobody really knows how an adorable black pup managed to find her way underneath an enormous shipping container, but for Lauren, the hero of today’s story, it didn’t really matter.
All she cared about was getting this poor girl safe.
Rescue Mission
As soon as Lauren heard little cries coming from a giant metal box, she knew that a little puppy got itself in some trouble.
“We couldn’t really see anything. And then, we looked over and we could just see this tiny, little black puppy poking out from underneath the container,” Lauren told The Dodo.
Luckily, they managed to get the puppy, later named Peaches, safe in their arms in a very short amount of time, allowing them to see just how adorable she was.
But after spending some time with her, they noticed that she was refusing to eat!
The rescuers believed that the reason behind her behavior was connected to the fact that she missed her mom.
Thinking that Peaches just needed some time to decompress before she could start to eat, the rescuers gave her some space. Plus, they had another case on their hands.
Rescue Mission No. 2
Not even a day after they rescued the puppy, the rescuers received information that another pup needed their help.
They were pretty sure she’d had puppies. Some people thought they could hear the puppies, but nobody could see them,” she added.
After looking around for a while, these dedicated rescuers managed to spot her adorable litter hiding behind some weeds.
The mama pup, now named Nigella, was overjoyed to be reunited with her puppies, and the fact that her little family was being relocated to a loving shelter made her day even better.
Since Peaches was staying at the exact same shelter, one of the staff members suggested that they should introduce her to the new arrivals.
“It’s not normal for a puppy at that age to be on their own. So we said ‘Let’s just give it a go’. Nigella was like, ‘Ok, she can stay’,” she said.
Even though it took some time for Peaches to get comfortable with nursing Nigella, in the end, she decided to give it a try, and it’s safe to say that she loved it.
